This week Microsoft has released SharePoint 2010 to developers and large corporates and Pentalogic Technology are pleased to be able to say “YES!” all of their SharePoint products are compatible with this eagerly anticipated new release.

Cheltenham, England (PRWEB) April 29, 2010 — This week Microsoft has released SharePoint 2010 to developers and large corporates and Pentalogic Technology is pleased to be able to say “YES!”, all of their SharePoint products are compatible with this eagerly anticipated new release.

Anyone involved in the world of Microsoft SharePoint will know that it has been buzzing with anticipation of SharePoint 2010 for a good year now.

The first version of SharePoint was released by Microsoft in 2003 and since then, it has gone on to become their fastest growing server product ever - the centerpiece of collaboration and content management for many organizations large and small.

Developers have had access to the public beta version of SP 2010 since November 2009 and companies like Pentalogic, who produce software for use with SharePoint, have been busily testing their products to identify what changes will need to be made in order for them to work on the new version of the platform.

“When you make software that works on a particular platform - whether it is Windows, SharePoint, or the iPhone - the introduction of a major new version is really exciting,” explains Pentalogic MD Ryan Wheeler, “but it can also be very stressful. The introduction of a new feature might open up lots of new possibilities, but it could equally well present new problems for the way your own software works with the platform, or even make your application completely redundant.”

“So we have been very active exploring SharePoint 2010 since the first release of the beta. We are very pleased to see that whilst there are lots of fantastic new features in SharePoint 2010 Microsoft haven’t introduced anything within the Out of the Box functionality that undermines our own products. For users of SharePoint 2010 our PivotPoint, Planner and Reminder will continue to add valuable planning, reporting and alert functionality to the Out of the Box offering,” says Wheeler, “and we have also spotted some interesting new possibilities for product development.”

“Over the past few months we have carried out extensive testing on all of our products in the beta version of SP 2010. There are some significant changes in this latest version of SharePoint and our developers have been busy making sure that our products function properly with these changes.”

“This week we have had access to the final release version of SP 2010 and following some final testing we can now say with confidence ‘Yes! We are ready for SharePoint 2010.’ All of our products are SharePoint 2010 compatible.” Says Ryan Wheeler, “SharePoint 2010 versions of all of our products are available to download from the website for existing customers who are upgrading to 2010 or new customers who are running or trialling a SP2010 deployment.”

“Although there is a lot of excitement about SharePoint 2010 we know that many people won’t be upgrading overnight. We know 15% of our clients are still using SharePoint 2003. SharePoint 2010 only runs on servers with 64 bit processors. This means that anyone currently running on 32 bit servers will need to upgrade their hardware before they can upgrade to SP2010. Though this would be normal practice for many large corporate, for smaller businesses on tighter budgets it introduces extra costs and could be a potential barrier to upgrades.”

“So whilst we are now fully SharePoint 2010 compatible, all of our products also remain compatible with all previous versions of SharePoint and we intend of continue to support all previous versions for the foreseeable future.”

SharePoint 2010 will be available on general release in May. There are 8 versions and as yet Microsoft have made no announcements regarding pricing.

About Pentalogic Technology:

m62 Highlights to Presenters the Importance of Using Colour Carefully on PowerPoint Slides.

(PRWEB) — m62 visualcommunications, the global leader in presentation effectiveness, is today urging presenters to use colours carefully in PowerPoint design.

Unattractive and unprofessional slides have a negative effect on audience attention, and impressions of amateurism are reflected back onto the presenter. One of the easiest mistakes to make when creating a PowerPoint slide is to use colours that don’t work well together. Colours that clash make slides look cheap and unprofessional.

Instead, designers should stick to a set colour scheme, such as the company colours. This creates a more professional looking image, ensuring that nothing clashes and that every shade on screen complements each other. Attractive slides are more impressive and help engage the audience. They also keep a company presentation on-brand and match the template design.

The easiest way to ensure that colours are standardised is to set up a colour palette within PowerPoint. Users can either use one of those available in PowerPoint, or set up a custom scheme using specific RGB references. This places all chosen colours in the colour palette, enabling the user to select them from the toolbar. Colour palettes can be saved with templates, and sent out to all users within a company.

Nicholas Oulton, Founder of m62, commented: “It is surprising how often presenters use clashing colours in their presentations. At m62, we have strict guidelines on this. Every presentation is produced with the client’s colour scheme in mind, and all colours are checked to make sure that they complement each other and do not clash, whilst still enabling the audience to see each detail clearly.

“Correct use of colour is one of the important checks included in our Objective Quality Standards, a test which each of our presentations must pass before it can be signed off. It is important to really understand what makes a presentation look good – a professional looking presentation can really impress the audience.”

m62 has produced over 10,000 presentations for a wide range of clients, including blue-chip brands such as BP, Siemens and Microsoft. m62 offers a range of services from presentation skills training to free PowerPoint templates, and operates from offices in the UK, US and Singapore.

Pentalogic Technology’s market leading Reminder tool for Microsoft SharePoint has been selected by leading US attorneys Bowerman and Brooke for us in their Practice Support Directorate.

Cheltenham, England (PRWEB) March 12, 2010 — Pentalogic Technology’s market leading Reminder tool for Microsoft SharePoint has been selected by leading US attorneys Bowerman and Brooke for use in their Practice Support Directorate.

Bowerman and Brooke, LLP who are nationally renowned product liability attorneys, took the decision to create an in-house litigation support department in June 2009. Wade Peterson was appointed Director.

Wade understood the twin demands of litigation support work: tight deadlines and the need for absolute accuracy. He was determined to automate as much of the work of the department as possible in order to better meet these demands.

From previous experience Wade knew that SharePoint was going to be the right platform for handling document management, ensuring accuracy in everything the department does. But there was also the need to put in place systems to ensure deadlines were met.

“SharePoint is a great tool running information management and collaboration systems,” says Peterson “But it has very limited built-in alert abilities.”

They needed to automatically notify the staff of new projects, projects which had passed a promised date and feedback to project managers about jobs completed. As the staff grew in size and additional business came in the door, managing this information via e-mail or to-do lists was going to be impossible.

“We needed something similar to Microsoft’s Outlook Reminders, but integrated into SharePoint,” says Wade

So the hunt was on for a solution. After doing some research Wade found Pentalogic and their SharePoint Reminder web part, and the product seemed like a perfect fit.

“The flexibility is really remarkable. I’ve worked with a lot of third-party SharePoint Web parts and I have to say Pentalogic’s Reminder is one of the best I’ve seen.”

“We’re managing hundreds of projects with the SharePoint site and because of Pentalogic’s Reminder; we’re able to keep the entire team informed of new changes and requirements. Staff are sent alerts on critical deadlines and follow-up on completed projects can easily be done. In fact, if we wanted to, we could even send a note back to the original requestor telling them when a project has been completed.”

“The business is starting to grow,” says Wade, “and knowing we have a tool to stay on top of our clients work is one less headache to worry about.”

Pentalogic MD Ryan Wheeler said: “We are delighted that Reminder works so well for Wade and Bowerman and Brooke, and we’re really pleased that they have decided to share their experiences with the product. Getting the “inside story” like this is not only interesting for us; it also gives us food for thought on how we can improve our products to make them even more effective for our customers.”

Government resources will be vital in providing improved support for small to medium enterprises as we begin to emerge from the recession according to voxclever, a leading provider of small business IT solutions for SMEs.

London, UK (PRWEB) February 13, 2010 — Government resources will be vital in providing improved support for small to medium enterprises as we begin to emerge from the recession according to voxclever, a leading provider of small business IT solutions for SMEs.

With an election soon to be held in the UK, voxclever has indicated that increased support for SMEs should be on parties’ agendas as an area that is in need of attention. With the UK currently emerging from recession, finding the resources and aid to propel a business to success is a far from an easy task.

Financial backing can be especially difficult to find, particularly following a banking crisis where loans are an expensive source of funding. In addition, current employment legislation makes employing additional staff a long and complicated process, hampering the growth of a business as well as its drive for success.

Although there are still SMEs that are suffering as a result, the number of firms facing failure in Q3 has decreased by 13.5% compared to Q2 (Equifax’s 2009 Business Failure Report). As such, voxclever has highlighted the importance of government support, and a need for the government to listen to SMEs, to discover the areas in which help is needed the most.

Scott Goodwin, CEO of voxclever, said: “It is imperative that the government listens to the experiences of SMEs who have achieved both success and failure in recent times, as a way of determining which business areas are in need of the most support. Such support will be instrumental in ensuring that it is a thoroughly health economy that emerges from the recession.”

Features include early work on UI virtualization to handle large sets of data, and a platform abstraction layer that separates Moonlight from the windowing system engine and should make it possible to port the player to windowing and graphics systems that are not X11/Gtk+ centric.

The availability of software solutions to efficiently manage and supervise the progression of students is making apprenticeship schemes a much more attractive opportunity for businesses according to Perspective, a leading authority on learner management and training.

London, UK (PRWEB) January 27, 2010 — The availability of software solutions to efficiently manage and supervise the progression of students is making apprenticeship schemes a much more attractive opportunity for businesses according to Perspective, a leading authority on learner management and training.

The use of training monitoring software can significantly enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of apprenticeship schemes. Businesses can now ensure that they are achieving the maximum output possible from their schemes, providing improved support for both their pupils and the mentors involved in the training process.

As such, apprenticeships have become an[ increasingly attractive opportunity for businesses looking to reap the benefits of receiving a purpose built workforce that is immediately ready to add to the firm’s productivity. Companies can also receive significant incentives from government initiatives designed to encourage the employment of apprentices, in an effort to solve the UK’s problems of skills shortages.

In addition, by reducing the administration demands on a business caused by an apprenticeship scheme, software such as Perspective’s Sunesis product enables smaller firms who did not previously have the capacity to deal with a scheme to add the apprenticeship process to their recruitment strategy.

Paul Davis, Managing Director of Perspective, said: “The employment of an apprenticeship scheme is a great way for companies to develop their own, almost tailor made, employee base. Through apprentice training, a business can grow their students to possess all of the core knowledge and work ethic necessary to become invaluable assets as employees.”

Sunesis provides those businesses running apprenticeship schemes with a comprehensive means of closely monitoring the progress and development of their students. The software enables mentors to view a range of information and use features to set milestones, create training reports and review progress and work development.

m62 visualcommunications, Gllobal Leader in Presentation Effectiveness, has Urged Lecturers to Reconsider the Way They Use PowerPoint in Academic Presentations.

(PRWEB) December 22, 2009 — m62 visualcommunications, the global leader in presentation effectiveness, has urged lecturers to reconsider the way they use PowerPoint design in academic presentations.

Many lecturers now use PowerPoint to produce visual aids in their lectures. Most, however, use bullet points and text-only slides to support their speech. In many cases, the entire lecture is summarised into points on the slide deck, with the slides being printed as handouts for students to read.

This trend in academia has led to a drop in lecturer ratings at many establishments, and in lecture attendance. Students can expect to understand the entire lecture by reading the handouts, so feel that attending in person is futile. The lecturer becomes redundant.

PowerPoint can be a valuable tool in academic presentations as well as business or sales presentations, when used correctly. A visual aid should be used to support understanding of the message, and not to remind the presenter what to say. Simple diagrams, graphs and charts work well to explain the point being made, and to further engage the audience. Relevant photographs can be produced that complement the message, without distracting. Using something slightly different, such as video, can boost attention levels and recall.

Nicholas Oulton, Founder of m62, commented: “Many lecturers may feel that they are utilising modern technology to enhance their students’ learning experience by using PowerPoint, but this is often not the case. In fact, many students have reported that lectures consisting of bullet points are considered boring, and are often poorly attended.

“The most important things a lecturer should remember when using visual aids are: don’t read what the audience are reading for themselves; don’t use slides for handouts; and don’t just use visual aids for the sake of it. Visual aids should help the message, or not be used at all.”

m62 has produced almost 10,000 presentations for clients worldwide, from offices in the UK, US and Singapore. m62’s services range from presentation training to free PowerPoint templates.
